Pretty birdie #2

posted by Paul

We found this bird perched on the branch of a tree in our garden. Okay, no, that's not true; although we'd love to be more like Sydney in this regard, birds like this aren't commonly found in our suburbs. If we had found one it would quite likely be a neighbour's bird gone walk-about.

Peter, the bird, actually lives at Monkey Town in Somerset West.

I love the idea of this blog. How do you find the time to do all this travelling to find such lovely pics. If you want to see some beautiful birds (not quite as colourful as this one) you've got to make your way to our part of the world....visit the Silvermine Wetland on the False Bay coast, making your way towards Cape Point and spend some time viewing (and photographing) the prolific birdlife.

fiona >> Thank-you!

themountainhouse >> Thanks, I reckon we'll make some trips out your way in the December holidays. Our last trip to Cape Point was cut short, so we never managed to get much from that side of the Peninsula, but yeah, we'll make a plan this December. Thanks for visiting.
