One-ton truck
posted by Paul
I find this traffic sign very... strange. It's positioned at the entrance to the parking area of the KwikSpar featured in yesterday's post. I initially thought that it meant that trucks weighing more than 1 ton could not use the road. But the problem I have is that my car (and in fact, many cars) weighs significantly more than 1 ton.This leaves me wondering - do they mean that trucks with more than 1 ton of cargo aren't allowed? I'm not sure. This is an odd sign indeed.

That looks very familiar. Is that the Spar in Stellenberg by any chance?
@jonathan 2: Absolutely correct. Did you live in the area?
Well yes what an interesting sign and do please find out for us what it 'really means'..
Off now to check Kerry_Anne's blog post, sounds interesting
@Paul: Yes, I did indeed live there. 100 bonus points for getting my Jonathan# right ;)
As far as I remember that sign only applies to goods vehicles and is for the GVM (goods plus vehicle). But you are right in that it seems a very low limit for any vehicle. Maybe they do not want ANY goods vehicles.
great photo, great colours, great shot
PS: When you're there again, can you take a picture of the garbage bin outside the chemist? It has "APT eek" written on it. Always wondered if it's a red hat user or something that wrote it on the bin :)
@jonathan2: Heh - cool - yeah, I'll do that.
very nice blog!

Well, that's just plain confusing. My car weighs just under 3 tonnes on it's own. Put four passengers in the car we're over 3 tonnes.
Which means you won't see me shopping there!
