A braai is a barbecue is a braai

The makings of a braaiA braai is always (well, almost always) a great way to fill one's tummy. To make the experience near-perfect, add a swimming pool and a cold beer.

Kerry-Anne bought the most amazingly tender rump steak from Pick 'n Pay - although the packaging was labeled "rump" I swear that it was in fact fillet. Either that or this specific animal must have had daily "rump massages". Well done, Pick 'n Pay, for an excellent cut of meat.

Yum, yum, there's nothing quite like a braai. A barbecue just doesn't cut it. A braai is something so uniquely South African which can only be experienced by South Africans, although from experience does not have to take place in SA!

It's a state of mind, a ritual, simple or elaborate it is something done differently by everyone, but the sentiment is pure South Africa.

You can take the South African out of South Africa, but you can't take the braai out of the Saffa!

Thank goodness we have a good local source of Boerewors! It's not a braai without it.

I'm not a South African, but my fondest memories of my time spent there are based around a braai! Tasty looking pictures!
