Kerry-Anne's Coffee-can Drum Kit

Kerry-Anne's Coffee-can Drum Kit

Update: We’ve so far collected R1150. Thanks for your contribution! :) (13 July)

Kerry-Anne and I have both played guitar for several years… not that this means that we’re great guitarists. For years she’s been wanting a drum kit, but we’ve never gotten around to buying one for her. About a month ago in desperation she finally assembled a small grouping of coffee cans, a tamborine, and a set of cheap drum sticks.

She’s always had far better rhythm than me, but I have to say that the clanging of coffee cans, no matter how rhythmic, isn’t the most appealing sound. Heck, even the cheapest drum kit must be better!

Since it will soon be her birthday, I decided that in answer to her desperation for drums and my desperation to stop the coffee-can-clanging, I’ve set up the page to help you, Cape Town Daily Photo readers, friends, and supporters to donate an amount of your choice to this, “The Drummer-girl Project”.

Any donation, even the smallest, will be received with great gratitude. Once we’ve collected enough money to buy a kit, we’ll do so and publish photos for you to see, followed shortly by a free (lol) track that you can download in return for your contribution. (Actually, anyone will be able to download the track. :) )

No matter where you are you can donate using South African Rands, but feel free to select one of the alternative currencies.

Please enter the amount you would like to donate.

Which brand of drums do you think Kerry-Anne should have?

Do you think she should have a new or used kit?

Her birthday was on 7 July.
