Curious little creature

posted by Kerry-Anne

Nathalie and Alice, your wish is my command... I'll definitely post more close-up images of handcrafts in the future (after all, one of my day jobs is running The Red Balloon Craft Junction, so you'll realise that I have quite an interest in crafts), but for now here is one of the things we saw on Sunday. This is just one example of the beautiful 3-D beading done by our local people, and in fact, I liked these so much that I bought one. He's looking for a home now, and I'll send him to the first person who correctly identifies these little critters.

South African bead work is exceptional. The jewelry is very colourful and beautifully crafted, too, isn't it?

I'm starting with a handicap, my English is...hem, a little poor, so i don't know what does the word "critters" mean...But this small lizard with blue eyes is so cute!

critters means anything animal like. I think that is it.

These look like lizards of some kind.

Yip, "critter" basically means any living creature (so you could call your children "cute little critters" too). You're on the right track but I'm afraid you're going to have to be more specific than "lizard"... :)

A little chameleon, maybe?

I don't know if I can identify it (though chameleon seems like a good guess, or maybe a gecko?) but it is really beautiful regardless.

Come on, it's a bit unfair: South Africa has more lizard species than almost any other country in the world, with the exception of Australia and Mexico...
Thanks for dropping by and commenting. I'll try to post some more on South Africa...

He's such a pretty little guy..
How big was this, Kerry Anne? The work is so detailed..I don't know how anyone works with beads so small.
My guess is a lizard too but I don't know what sort, I'm afraid.
