On Sunday afternoons in summer, various charity groups take turns to serve cake and tea at the Durbanville Rose Garden, to raise funds for their organisations. Paul had lemon meringue and coffee, and I chose baked cheesecake and tea; we then took a leisurely stroll around the garden to admire the abundance of colourful and wonderfully-scented roses growing there. The Garden was established in 1979 and boasts around 4,500 rose bushes!

How about that? A similar kind of photo posted the same day on different continents. Your roses are beautiful, too!
However, yesterday I learned from Abraham Lincoln at the Brookville, Ohio, USA Daily Photo that roses are not conducive to wildlife habitats. He has one in his backyard, which is how he gets such wonderful wildlife photographs.
Such an absolutely civilized way of raising money for charity. Sounds lovely. They'd make a ton from me. I've a weakness for cakes. Lemon meringue and the cheesecake and whatever else. Oh, did you say roses too?
Tks for dropping in on Richmond, K. The park is huge...it can absorb a lot of people...try to see it on Google Earth...it's a huge green blob seen from space. And...this is 07.00, so he's an early dog walker...the FOOL!!
Looking at the post box I think it is George V (you can tell because the coat of arms is different for each monarch.....if I remember rightly, that one looks a bit "five-ish", rather than G VI)
4500 rose bushes! A dream to smell, a hard job to prune! ;-) I do like cheesecake, mine is not too bad...
i love cheesecake :)
thanks for stopping by!
The picture of the roses is beautiful.

Sounds like a lovely afternoon. The roses are lovely, too!
What a great way to raise money. After reading your post, I feel like having a cup of tea now.
Hi Kerry-Ann, that's a lovely array of colour that you have captured there. Looks like you are still enjoying summer down south!
Lovely lighting on these roses, and I love seeing the garden blurred in the background.
