Men at Work

posted by Paul
Taken from the balcony of the building where I work, this photograph is a typical sight in the Cape Town area. These guys are busy with construction around a newly developed upmarket apartment complex and shopping area. It looks to me like they are working on some kind of canal or rain-water overflow system. This particular area has a number of small but very deep dams surrounded by new apartment blocks and elegant restaurants.

Good to see MEN AT WORK. In Papua New Guinea (and lots of other places too) you often see 1 man working and 5 men watching. At the moment there are some men trimming trees on the beach in front of my house and that is what is happening. I guess in the tropical heat it may make sense!!!

Hello,
Nice photo that reveals blue panels to fence-out people I am guessing. They use plywood here and it ends up being a mess when the construction is done. I like this idea. I also read on the stone tower the word, "Tyger" and assume this will be the name of whatever they are building. An interesting photo and narrative. And, by the way, thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog.

Jules>> In summer you'll often see one guy working and a few standing around... but then again, the work they do is pretty hard under the harsh African sun :).

Abraham>> Yeah, Tyger Falls is the name of the apartment complex. The suburb is "Tyger Valley", and hence Tyger Falls has it's name due to a small waterfall next to the complex.
