27dinner
posted by Paul
Every two months, on the 27th of the month, a whole bunch of marketing people and IT geeks (it's okay, that's what they call THEMSELVES - apparently it's no longer derogatory) get together for dinner, drinks, a few short presentations and a whole lot of chatting. This was the first time we'd been to a 27dinner, and we found the whole environment pretty energising. There's a buzz growing in Cape Town around IT, new media and creative concepts, and I think we're in for some exciting times. It's the influence of that mountain, I tell you...
(By the way, in case you're wondering where we fit in, I'm one of the marketing people and Paul's one of the geeks. :D)

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog. I like your photos - very nice.
I'm kind of in the IT geek camp myself and the term has been adopted and is no longer derogatory as you indicated. I work closely with Marketing/Communications people too and it is a good mix. You and Paul must get along famously.
Cheers.
Glad you guys have joined this group.
We had our first 27Dinner in Durban at the end of July, and it was most enjoyable. One of the speakers gave a very interesting talk on the use of Blogging.
To answer your question about the name...mourning dove...they have a distinctive coo sound that borders on mourning women. I assumed that is where the name comes from.
Thanks for visiting. I appreciate it.
