Canal Walk

This is the view that greeted us when stepping out of the Canal Walk shopping mall this evening. This canal stretches the length of the shopping centre, providing entertainment by day in the form of canoe and gondola rides and exquisite evenings as the sun sets and the light dims. The building on the other side of the canal is a Protea hotel - wouldn't it be lovely to stay in one of the rooms for a night or two? This isn't a plug for the hotel, I in fact have no idea whether or not it is a nice play to stay - the atmosphere outside was just so quiet, relaxed and serene that I had the impression it would be a great place to stay.

The photo is very beautiful. It actually looks like what I imagine a resort would look like in Dubai. I just wish they wouldn't light up the place at night, though! The power that could be saved by turning off the lights at Century City for one night, including that huge parking lot, could probably power several towns the size of Calitzdorp for months! (And I have held this opinion since 2005...)
It certainly looks like it would be a lovely place to stay a night! A great photo.
The waved reflection on the water is also nice to look at aside from the fact that the real building is amazing! wow!
