The Amber-Rose at Kalk Bay
posted by Paul
Kalk Bay is a small sea-side suburb of Cape Town, situated on the False Bay coast, and known mostly for its harbour and small fishing boats - the Amber-Rose being just one of many.It was a cool and windy day today, so walking out on the pier was a somewhat chilly experience. Nevertheless, we saw hardy fishermen casting their lines, taking their boats out to sea, and gutting their catch along the water's edge. I truly think that fishermen must be a special breed.

Where can we see some of the other pictures from the day's outing?
I suppose fishermen do what they do because the fish are there for the taking.
I think it would be a different story if the fish had lawyers and an army to protect themselves.
I have often wondered how we would react if another civilization landed and began casting nets around and took thousands of us off to be gutted somewhere on another planet.
It makes things that we take for granted seem odd. It is also how movies are made.
Looks like a nice place to have a wander with a camera! Look at that blue sky!
@tania - eish girl, I've only just managed to finish developing my Vegas photos... I will get to them - promise.
@abraham lincoln - heh, yes, I've had similar thoughts before. At times it seems barbaric... but then I get over it. ;)
