Best coffee in Cape Town

posted by Kerry-Anne
It really is. I wasn't entirely convinced by all the hype... until I had a cup, and discovered to my delight that it was perfect.

I spent the evening with a group of bright, enthusiastic and creative women at Origin Roasting in De Waterkant. It was my first time at Origin, but it won't be the last - the atmosphere was great, the staff were friendly, and the coffee was absolutely awesome.

If you're on Facebook, have a look at their group, and if you're in the Green Point area, do yourself a favour and pop in for a cup of coffee.

Great looking cups of coffee! I'll be 50 in 3 mos and never had a cup of coffee, ever. Those look good enough to have!

This is for Perry...You have NOT lived until you have had a GOOD cup of coffee! Once you have experienced the joys of the subtle caffeine boost the aroma alone will be enough to lift even the most flagging spirits, not to mention it's exceptionally high antioxidant levels, second only to green tea as far as brewed beverages go - can you tell I'm a fan? Please, you have to try coffee, at least once, maybe for your up-coming birthday?

I love the way you've captured these cups of coffee, what a great advert poster it would make..also the coffee does look real good.

@rafa, @po: And it tasted as good as it looked.

@perry: What Natashia said. :P

@Beverley: Thanks! I've been learning from Paul - this is the kind of shot he would have taken if he'd been with me at Origin.

@Erica: Whereabouts are you in the world at the moment?

When we visited SA I found both tea and coffee to be very... well, bland and without a distinct and strong flavour in general. But I did have one of the best ice lattes I've ever had in Cape Town. At Afro Coffee, flippin' delicious it was! This looks pretty good too:)
