Summer in the sun
posted by Paul
This scenic vista was taken from one of the posh apartment blocks overlooking the Clifton beaches. The Clifton beachfront is broken up into four beaches, each separated by large granite outcrops. Clifton 4th beach is the largest of the four, very trendy and our favourite beach ever. The beaches are numbered 1 through 4 with 1 being closest from this photo's perspective. Bear in mind that it's not what I would call a family beach, as the water is freezing cold and topless tanning is permitted. This photo shows off the Twelve Apostles mountain range - for reference, Table Mountain towers off to the left (not visible in this shot). If I have it right, then this link should load wikimapia's satellite images of Clifton.

wow what a great shot. Notice you're blog just today.
Amazing scenary!!!!
Gorgeous photo! Clifton is beautiful.
South Africa has some of the greatest beach scenery in the world. The coast on the Garden Route is heart-stopping, isn't it? Your photo is lovely. Can't wait to see more of your shots. In my blog, Kate Travels, I have some SA photos; you might be interested in seeing someone else's view of your country.
Beautiful shot and an amazing looking beach.

Mountain into the sea...wonderful!
Hmmm...I'm a bit confused. On Wikimapia they have beach 4 being most south...isn't it the other way around? From South to North it is 1,2,3,4, or am I being directionally challenged?
Directionally challenged I'm afraid, D. :) 4th is definitely furthest south (in other words, closest to Camps Bay). We'll just have to take you there again to prove it... ;)
To our new visitors, welcome - I'll be checking out your blogs too as time allows.
Kate, your pics of SA are great - you must have had an awesome life so far. I hope that my life will be as full of new experiences and places as yours seems to be!
I'm caught short today....can't think of a superlative-enough- superlative to do this photo justice.
Wow.
Thanks Chris or Deb ;) - it is a remarkable coastline isn't it? It's not too tricky to take a nice shot when the scene presents itself like it does.
What a beaty ! Thanks for sharing your wonderful city.
this is crazy! My first visit to this blog and i see this wondrful pic! I just adore the cliffs - wish i had a summer home in those beach front apartments!
So do i, kala. :) Very pricey properties those, but oh what a view.
Oh my goodness!! It looks like Malibu in California. Not that I have been to Malibu myself. :-)

I LOVE it :)
