Windy day
posted by Paul
The wind was blustering over the city yesterday, though the air was crystal clear and the sun was shining brightly. This photo has Cape Town CBD (Central Business District) and Table Bay Harbour in the background. If you look really closely you may be able to spot Robben Island (an apartheid-time prison for political prisoners) on the horizon - later in the week we'll be visiting the island and bringing a photo or two back for you!

So, a good day to windsurf! I'm waiting for your photos about the island.
Wow! I'm happy I found your Cape Town pictures. I loved the city when I visited it twice in the late 90s, and have been posting some pictures in the Blogtrotter 90s. Hope to have made justice to your town...

I choose Woodstock direction ! :)
:) Yes, windsurfing - there isn't really much windsurfing in Cape Town these days - I think all the windsurfers have gone over to kite-boarding. We were at Table View beach today where in a small stretch of coastline up to 40 kite-boarders gather. It's awesome to watch.
Im so looking forward to those island shots haha!
I'm happy to see my son (15) is not interessed in kite surfing, rather dangerous, especially for the hands...
>>alice: It is pretty dangerous, yes - a friend of ours ended up with a nasty injury to his ribs and back after he was dumped on the beach by a sudden gust of wind. Must admit, I like a bit of adventure, but this isn't something that appeals to me.
>>gmg: I stopped by your blog - great shots and great information too! You've certainly done our city justice, yes.
Such crystal clear air, everything's sparkling.
I'm looking forward to the shots of Robbens Island.
Angela
