The Aquarium
posted by Paul
Those of you who know Cape Town and have perhaps lived here or visited on vacation might find it impossible to believe that I've lived here all my life and have never visited Cape Town's Two Oceans Aquarium. Whenever friends say "You know, at the aquarium..." I have to stop them with "I've never...", and then I get a slightly dumbfounded look that seems to radiate the question, "Why?"I believe it's really cool, being an aquarium and all, but I've just never gotten around to visiting it. There's always something else to go and see or do, and rightly or wrongly, I seem to have adopted the mindset of "seen one, seen them all".
But yes, before I get flamed in the comments below, I suppose that's much like saying "seen one city, seen them all". I guess I'm just not that into seafood... :D

Cool!
I think not visiting your biggest attraction is common. I have not been to our theater.
Today is my birthday -- I am 74 years old.
I went to the Aquarium for the first time this year because I now have a three year old. I really don't know why people are dumbfounded by an adult not having been. We know what a shark looks like. And the "tunnel" under the shark tank was not exactly what I would call a tunnel.
But as for "seen one, seen them all", it was only after visiting PE's very sad oceanarium that I realised our aquarium was something special after all.
It's always the same - we overlook stuff on our own doorstep. I'm sure we're all guilty of it, wherever we may be. When in C.T. 8 years ago we visited your aquarium and I certainly enjoyed it, not least because I managed to get some interesting photos from the visit. However, perhaps you could save it for a rainy day - or maybe think about it next time you're planning a climb up Table Mountain and there's a chance of a thunderstorm moving in!!!
Hi Dave,
The funny thing is that it's now several months after posting this photo and I still haven't visited the aquarium. :D
I'll have to make a plan soon. Perhaps it is a winter activity though.
